LENvention seven

Last weekend Philippa attended the annual LENvention event organised by Angie Butler of ABPress. Now in its seventh year, this year we were fortunate to work at  Corsham Court – where we were joined by Tim Jollands who runs the Albion press as part of Bath Spa University campus.

Day one started with a walk around the grounds which were designed by Capability Brown and included a ha ha. The landscape was part of the introduction to this years’ theme of Relevance, with the aim to produce work from the reader’s perspective. For this task the group worked in pairs – with Philippa working with her previous collaborator from the first LENvention – Andrew Morrison. As well as responding to the given theme, other parameters included a wide landscape format using Kozo paper, and the limitation of printing only three sheets per pair on day one.

These constraints led to a considered and well balanced body of work that will be made into a scroll by the very talented Lucy May Schofield – Battenburg Press. Other participants were Hazel Grainger – HGmakes; Lucy Guenot; Jeff Rathermel.
